About

Our nursery is a warm and welcoming place that feels just like home, where every child is cared for as an individual and made to feel safe, happy, and loved. We pride ourselves on being nurturing and inclusive, creating a friendly atmosphere where families feel part of our community. Our staff are not only caring and approachable but also keep up to date with the latest training, so you can feel confident your little one is receiving the very best care and support. We believe in learning through hands-on, adventurous play, giving children plenty of opportunities to explore, discover, and grow in a stimulating environment that’s both fun and comforting. Here, every child’s journey is celebrated, and their happiness is always at the heart of what we do.

We model kindness, empathy, and fairness, and we help children build strong friendships.

We respect every child and family, and we encourage children to respect themselves, others, and the world around them.

We welcome everyone, celebrate our differences, and make sure every child feels valued and included.

We act as positive role models and are always learning to give children the very best care.

We keep children safe, happy, and cared for in a nurturing environment.

We work closely with parents and carers because we know families are children’s first teachers.

We put children at the heart of everything we do, listening to their voices and supporting their choices.

We believe play is powerful — it helps children learn, explore, and grow.

Our Curriculum

At our nursery, our curriculum is carefully designed around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring that every child receives the best possible start to their learning journey. The EYFS provides seven areas of learning and development, which we weave into daily routines, play opportunities, and planned activities. Through the prime areas—Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development—we focus on building strong foundations that help children feel confident, healthy, and ready to learn. These are supported by the specific areas—Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design—where children are encouraged to explore, problem-solve, and develop their creativity. Our curriculum is child-centred and play-based, meaning we follow the interests of each child while introducing new ideas and challenges to spark curiosity. We provide a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities, ensuring children learn through fun, hands-on experiences both indoors and outdoors. Most importantly, our curriculum is inclusive and flexible, supporting every child’s individual needs, backgrounds, and learning styles, while preparing them for the next stage of their education and life beyond nursery.

Mealtimes at Maisy Moo’s

At Maisy Moo’s, we believe that mealtimes should be happy, calm, and social experiences. They’re not just about eating — they’re a wonderful opportunity for children to chat with friends, try new foods, and develop important social and self-help skills. We create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere so that every child can enjoy their meals and build positive relationships with healthy eating.

Our nutritious four-week rolling menus are thoughtfully planned to give children the very best start in life. All our meals are freshly prepared and home-cooked, filled with plenty of fruit, vegetables, and the essential nutrients children need to grow and thrive — both physically and mentally.

During the day, children enjoy a morning snack, a freshly prepared lunch, an afternoon snack, and tea. We work closely with parents and children to make sure our meals are both nourishing and delicious!

Special Dietary Requirements

We understand that every child is unique, and we are happy to cater for individual dietary needs. Whether your child requires gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, or allergies, we’ll make sure they enjoy safe, healthy, and tasty food every day. If your child has any other special requirements, please let us know — we’ll work with you to provide suitable options that meet their needs.

Oral Health at Maisy Moo’s

At Maisy Moo’s, we understand that developing good oral health habits early in life is an important part of every child’s overall wellbeing. Healthy teeth and gums help children to eat, speak, and smile with confidence — and these early routines lay the foundation for a lifetime of good dental care.

We encourage children to learn about looking after their teeth through fun, age-appropriate activities and conversations. This might include stories, songs, or role play that helps them understand why brushing teeth and making healthy food choices are important.

Our menus are also designed to support good oral health by including a balance of nutritious meals and snacks, while keeping sugary foods and drinks to a minimum.

We remind children about the importance of drinking plenty of water and milk, which help to keep their teeth strong.

We work closely with parents and carers to promote healthy habits at home, such as regular tooth brushing and routine dental visits. Together, we can help children develop positive attitudes towards oral care and enjoy bright, healthy smiles for years to come!

Benefits of outdoor play

At Maisy Moo’s, we believe the great outdoors is one of the best classrooms a child can have! Outdoor play gives children the freedom to explore, discover, and learn through hands-on experiences in a natural and stimulating environment.

Spending time outside supports all areas of a child’s development. It helps to build strong muscles, balance, and coordination, while also encouraging confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills. Whether they’re climbing, running, digging, or jumping in puddles, children are developing their physical abilities while having lots of fun.

Outdoor play also nurtures children’s emotional wellbeing. Fresh air, open spaces, and connection with nature help children feel calm and happy, while opportunities to play together outdoors strengthen friendships, teamwork, and communication skills.

We make sure our outdoor area is an extension of our indoor learning environment, offering a wide range of exciting activities that inspire curiosity and creativity — from nature hunts and messy play to gardening and imaginative games.

At Maisy Moo’s, we know that every splash, jump, and muddy footprint is part of a child’s journey to grow, learn, and thrive.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a vital part of nursery life, as it ensures that every child is protected from harm and given the best possible environment to grow, learn, and thrive. At our nursery, we support safeguarding by creating a safe and nurturing setting where children feel secure, valued, and respected. All staff are trained to recognise and respond to any concerns quickly and appropriately, following clear safeguarding and child protection policies. We carry out regular risk assessments, maintain safe recruitment practices, and ensure that our routines and activities prioritise children’s wellbeing at all times. We also work closely with parents and carers, building strong relationships so that families feel confident in the care their children receive. By embedding safeguarding into everything we do, we create a culture of safety, trust, and care that allows every child to develop to their full potential.

SENCO

At Maisy Moos, we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) ensures that all children with additional needs are identified early and supported effectively through tailored strategies and partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals.

We believe that every child deserves to feel valued, respected, and confident in their abilities. Through thoughtful planning, continuous observation, and individualised support, we create an environment where all children can thrive and achieve their own version of success.

ENCO

At Maisy Moos, we celebrate diversity and are committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and respect for all.
Our Equalities Named Coordinator (ENCO) ensures that every child, family, and member of staff feels valued, supported, and treated fairly—regardless of their background, culture, language, gender, ability, or beliefs.

We strive to create a learning environment that reflects and celebrates the diverse world we live in. Through inclusive practice, positive role modelling, and open communication with families, we aim to build a community where everyone feels a true sense of belonging and has equal opportunities to succeed.

Children's Mental Health

At Maisy Moos, we believe that supporting children’s mental health is just as important as promoting their physical wellbeing. Positive mental health lays the foundation for children’s confidence, curiosity, and ability to form secure relationships. Our nurturing environment encourages children to express their feelings, develop resilience, and build a strong sense of self. Practitioners take time to listen, comfort, and guide children through challenges, helping them to understand and manage their emotions. We also work closely with parents to ensure each child feels valued, safe, and supported both at nursery and at home. By prioritising mental wellbeing from the earliest years, we help children develop lifelong emotional strength and a positive approach to learning and life.
